Lately I have been trying to put a focus on Irish wedding suppliers on my blog.
I heard a statistic from America that suppliers who submit weddings to mags and blogs earn 56% higher revenue, 73% higher for photographers who regularly submit weddings. I know the Irish market is not the same, but I can't help but feel we are headed in that direction and I want my blog to be a place that promotes quality Irish work. Nothing on my blog is paid for, it is all 100% editorial (ie things that I like and recommend). So when I say 'promotes quality Irish work' I mean it. I won't post anything I don't stand by.
I feel it's imperative that Irish suppliers have these sorts of platforms, which is why I am changing the format of the blog. The problem is that there are more and more Irish wedding blogs, but (much like myself) we are left looking to British and American sites for quality images and style, which is fine occasionally, but what I think Irish brides need and want...is to see other Irish weddings. This proves problematic. The main reason is that finding quality images on Irish supplier websites is surprisingly (some might say alarmingly) hard to do. The other is that I don't want to post bog standard weddings on my blog and often times that's all I find on supplier sites. I want to post inspiring, stylish and innovative weddings. Weddings that give my readers ideas and something to think about. This is not to say that there aren't a plethora of stunning and innovative Irish weddings, it's just that I don't have easy access to them so I can't feature them.
Wedding blogs connect suppliers and brides, help SEO and put another favorable (unbiased and respected) opinion about your business out into the google abyss. With so many Irish wedding blogs popping up, the channels are there...but are sadly not being used. In short, blogs are an amazing channel to reach clients! So why is it so hard? Help me, help you.
This is turning into a bit of a rant, but I thought I would just throw my thoughts out there.
Opinions please? I'd love to hear!
